The Influence of Y2K Design on Video Games: A Nostalgic Journey

In recent years, there has been a growing interest in the design aesthetics of the early 2000s, commonly referred to as Y2K design. The influence of this style is particularly evident in the world of video games, where developers are incorporating elements of Y2K design into their games to evoke a sense of nostalgia and create a unique visual experience for players. But why is Y2K design making a comeback? For many, it's a way to reconnect with a simpler time, when technology was still new and exciting, and the internet was a place of endless possibilities. Y2K design is characterized by its bright colours, bold patterns, and playful, almost childlike aesthetic. It's a style that defined a generation and continues to inspire creativity today.

I decided to incorporate these design elements into the illustration by using chrome objects and futurist designs.

I recently created a digital illustration of one of my original characters Sqaurefox using a 90s anime cel-shading style. It was a lot of fun experimenting with the different techniques and colours to achieve the desired effect. I've always been a big fan of the 90s anime aesthetic, so it was great to be able to bring that style into my own artwork. Overall, I'm really happy with how the illustration turned out and I can't wait to create more art like it in the future!

Overall, Y2K design is a fascinating aesthetic that is both nostalgic and forward-thinking. Its influence can be seen in many areas of modern design, and it's sure to continue inspiring creativity for years to come.

I think the illustration looks very fitting for a game design. Let me know what you think about these illustrations.
